KISS And AEROSMITH: A Perfect Match

Cary Ashby of Coshocton Tribune is reporting that "the fans of hard rock bands include educators, scientists, musicians, actors, retail clerks and students. And among their number are a few local fans of AEROSMITH and KISS who are looking forward to the veteran bands blasting their way into Germain Amphitheater in Columbus on Aug. 19.

"Epidemiologist Bob Brems of Coshocton, a KISS fan since the late 1970s, said he is looking forward to 'a rock-n-roll visual display.'

"He said he enjoys the pyrotechnics and loud music at KISS concerts. The theatrics make each show enjoyable and afford a certain comfort level, he said. The August show will be Brems' fifth show in six years.

" 'All the concerts I have been to have met and exceeded my expectations. You go in expecting something — and you get what you expect,' Brems said. "That's why you go.'

Trombonist Heath Grogro, a 2003 Coshocton High School graduate, said the tour sounds like a perfect match for the rock bands.

" 'Their styles complement each other (and) their fan base is alike,' said Grogro, who enjoys both bands.

"However, with big-name bands and equally big egos involved, questions remain. For example, which is bigger — Steven Tyler's Mick Jagger-esque mouth or Gene Simmons' infamous tongue?

" 'I'm very curious about how it will mesh,' Brems said about the show set-up. 'You have two humongous acts. How do you put one before the other as far as scheduling?'

"River View High School student Brice Yost, a fan of both aging rock groups, said that is unimportant. He loves the fact they are touring together.

" 'I expect it to be a really good show,' said Yost, who also anticipates seeing a lot of showmanship." Read more.
